Coaching | Development | Talent

Our evidence-based coaching, development and talent solutions will enable you and your teams to connect, engage and perform at higher levels.

Coaching

Coaching is one of the most effective ways to impact an individual’s development. Our passion is unlocking potential through 1-1 and team coaching. Ruthlessly compassionate, we invest time and effort into these sessions to build the momentum required for real change. We may also use psychometric and behavioural assessment tools to support self-awareness.

The typical coaching process involves:

  • A ‘pre’ meeting to agree the area(s) of focus and any ground rules
  • A coaching program would involve around six sessions
  • A ‘post’ meeting to reflect on the experience and progress made.

Each session is around 90 minutes long, and the content will varies, dependent upon the individual’s own needs, the area(s) of focus, and what’s getting in their way. It is, after all, a uniquely individual experience.

Our client list often consists of small business owners, independent professionals and executive leaders with large business portfolios in complex multi-national roles.

We also work directly with:

  • Individuals who are looking for support in their professional development or career transition.
  • Organisations who wish to help their talent or senior leaders move forward.

How we can help:

Having worked in corporate environments within executive leadership teams, and having led our own functional and project teams, we are well-equipped to understand the challenges of leadership.

Our coaching engagements allow leaders the required space, time and appropriate challenge to work through issues standing in the way of higher performance.

Examples include:

  • dealing with team dysfunction;
  • influencing key stakeholders;
  • enhancing executive presence, as well as
  • managing feelings of self-doubt, overwhelm, and stress.

Teams are fundamental to optimal organisational performance.

Team coaching provides the support needed to establish new habits and behaviours for optimal team performance and engagement.

This type of coaching helps ensure agreements carry through, post team development, in ways such as:

  • new ways of working;
  • Understanding different personality styles;
  • Creating a common purpose, or
  • Deciding upon better team behaviours and values.

Where a group of people is not an established, intact team, we offer group coaching to inspire change.

This experience can be impactful when bringing a group of individuals or leaders together for a specific purpose, such as high potential talent development, cross-company leadership development, or to support a group project where members are spread across the organisation, or several organisations.

We also utilise this methodology for non-competitive leaders coming together in open programs that we run.

Development

Each client that comes to us for support brings with them a complex system involving the individual, a team working with another team, a business function, an executive team, a strategy, a purpose, an organisation, and a market.

To add to the complexity, this system sits within their specific industry, embedded in the wider economy.

For this reason, we always treat each client as unique, delivering on our philosophy that we:

Listen to understand
Tailor to create solutions
Enable you to deliver
Commit to lasting change

Each development solution we create is unique and based on our understanding of your circumstances. We won’t lift a program off the shelf and simply turn up to deliver this. We will work with you to tailor a solution and partner with you to ensure we deliver the right results.

How we can help:

Leadership impact starts with understanding ourselves and the shadow we cast. We can help assess and develop leaders to be themselves with skill, either through tailored workshops or coaching on a 1-1 basis.

We use many different psychometric and behavioural assessment tools to understand an individual’s own motivating or preferred behaviours, and to start the process of appreciation – “what does it feel like to be led by me?”

We work with our clients to really understand what it means to lead, how to create followers rather than direct reports, improve conversations at all levels, and create the kind of business impact that true leadership inspires.

Teams are fundamental to optimal organisational performance.

We deliver team development solutions that:

  • enhance performance, including cultivating a team purpose;
  • educate how to be a good team member;
  • identify new ways of working as a team;
  • improve understanding of different personality styles to get the best out of others;
  • establish team behaviours and values;
  • improve psychological safety, connections, and relationships.

We encourage ‘Team Development’ be paired with ‘Team Coaching‘ to ensure members are supported to establish new habits and behaviours for optimal team performance, and engagement.

We provide a range of psychometric tools to support all stages of the talent lifecycle.

We have tools to support you, whether you are looking for:

  • Aptitude testing to compliment your recruitment process;
  • 360° assessments to support coaching and development;
  • Personality profiling to assist with team development;
  • Culture and Engagement surveys to understand the levers for change.

Using our psychometric tools, we can help you to:

  • select and develop outstanding talent;
  • learn what motivates those who work in your organisation;
  • understand the strengths and development needs of team members, and
  • standardise your assessment, selection and development processes to make them more objective and rigorous.

Our team is accredited in a range of tools including Myers Biggs Type Indicator (MBTI), Predictive Index (PI), Mental Toughness Questionnaire (MTQ), The Quest Profiler Personality Questionnaire, and various other aptitude testing tools.

Wellbeing is our ability to feel good and function effectively as we navigate the natural highs and lows we all experience.

There’s a great deal of evidence and good business sense for focussing on the wellbeing of your people. Those who have a higher level of wellbeing are six times more likely to be engaged, 29% more likely to be productive, 125% less likely to burn out and 30% less likely to quit.

We work with our clients to make sure wellbeing practices are intelligently embedded into daily mindsets, behaviours, leadership approaches, operating rhythms, and ways of working. All our content is tailored to ensure we reflect the needs of our client’s work environment and the wellbeing needs of their people.

Talent

Talent in any business is the difference between good performance and exceptional performance. Hiring, inspiring and maximising the talent in your organisation and in your team is a no-brainer when it comes to wanting to achieve your business goals.

According to research, companies with highly effective talent management strategies on average achieve 26% higher revenue per employee and 41% lower turnover among high-performing employees. In addition, companies excelling in talent management can increase earnings by nearly 15%. Numbers not to be sneezed at.

We believe talent in any organisation can come from anywhere, so it’s crucial to have the right tools available to identify, evaluate, develop and encourage it. Delivering this level of focus and attention has enabled our clients to achieve the business performance and success they are looking for.

How we can help:

As experienced observers, using robust tools and bespoke structures, we are able to provide deep insight into the potential of our client’s talent.

Understanding this potential allows for the right decisions to be made about roles, breadth and scope of leadership, and long-term succession.

Typically, the outcome of the assessment is either to identify potential for current and/or future roles, or to create robust development plans to get your people ready. Whichever you need, we can help with designing and delivering assessments that work.

If you’re looking to build organisational strength or seek to establish future roles and understand potential, we can help make a difference.

Understanding who you have, what they are capable of doing, and what you need in the future is the basis of any talent strategy.

We help you to define what talent means in your current context, specific environment, industry and/or organisation. This includes helping you identify and assess talent, and then building plans to maximise this potential in order to deliver results for your organisation.

Making development matter enables our clients to future-proof their businesses with a talent strategy that works. For this reason, we always treat each strategy as unique, delivering on our philosophy, that we:

Listen to understand
Tailor to create solutions
Enable you to deliver
Commit to lasting change

There is no doubt that high-achieving individuals, the ones who grow your business, seek ongoing challenge and development. If they are not getting this from your organisation, they will move on.

An important part of any talent-focused organisation is an investment in building the strengths of individuals considered ‘high potential’.

We work with our clients to design and deliver vigorous experiences that stretch, test and grow those individuals, building a deeper insight into their potential.

We have found our clients are particularly successful in this area when they look to connect high potential development solutions to the wider business and talent strategy. This ensures alignment between the future direction of the organisation and the pipeline of high-potential individuals ready to step up to deliver this.

Testimonials

I had the pleasure of working with Jo at British Gas during a significant period of transformation. I found Jo to be an extremely knowledgeable and well-networked talent professional with the drive and capability to build a cohesive talent agenda. On a personal note I found Jo’s counsel, humour and tireless positivity invariably timely and energising. I look forward to our paths crossing in future.

When I was first offered the opportunity to undertake coaching to help address over-working and burnout, I was honestly sceptical about what the results of working with Siân would be. I had always viewed training and development as acquiring or improving a tangible skill, and I didn’t think this qualified as something I could work on…how wrong I was! Taking the time to understand my strengths and values really helped to identify what’s important to me and what makes me happy. Working with Siân was incredibly rewarding; she’s able to find a great balance between challenging a person, supporting them and getting them to think about things in a new way. While I still consider myself a work in progress, the time spent with Siân has helped to create a permanent change and made the road ahead clearer.

It is rare to get across a person that has the ability to open up even the hardest and toughest personalities. Jo has that very unique skill. She will force you to look into the mirror. Once you get out of denial, she will lead you into the right direction. You are about to become a better person and manager.
I would highly recommend Jo for those that need a group coaching, individual coaching or just a wake up call!
In a heartbeat I will work will Jo again.

Having worked with Siân over a number of years, I’ve been impressed with her strong desire to develop an individual learning mindset to enhance organisational effectiveness. Constantly displaying an inventive approach, Siân acts as an instrumental business partner to carefully assess and diagnose current challenges in order to recommend, develop and facilitate impactful talent development solutions. She has implemented initiatives ranging from nurturing emerging leaders, enhancing personal leadership and enabling culture improvements to arming leaders with the necessary skills to confidently coach, a critical capability in today’s fast paced and changing business world. Her balanced perspective, thoughtful questions and an ability to tease out important self-reflections encourage immediate application and consistently result in positive participant feedback. There is no doubt Siân’s people development focus is a business growth enabler and the value of that can never be underestimated.

Jo was introduced to me via a mutual contact, and it proved to be a really valuable connection.

Initially I engaged Jo to help me with my own team, to help unpick some of the challenges we were having in personality clashes and behaviour, and to explain how we could turn these business-damaging issues around. My team had worked with me for a long time, but the value we all took from the tools Jo used with us were astronomical! We learned more from that experience than we had from the previous 2 years working together.

Since then, my business interests have expanded and I’ve had the opportunity to contract with Jo on some specific projects with my own client group. She has shown herself to be an incredibly rich and valuable resource, recognised for her insight as well as her experience, and continues to provide incredible advice and support. I believe any business that engages with Jo will never be disappointed – and in fact may get so much more than they thought possible.

Sian recently facilitated a number of team focused workshops across our full team. Using MBTI as a framework to assist the teams understanding of our similarities and differences, strengths and blind-spots, Sian was able to improve overall team focus and morale. Additionally Sian used the workshops to create clarity around our team purpose and values to assist us to deliberately build our culture. We then were able to clearly identify the areas of our culture we wanted to "protect" as well as the areas for improvement. We gained real wins out of this process, resulting in a stronger on-boarding and induction process for new starters, and clarity on "moments that matter" to celebrate team members achievements and contributions. As a rapidly growing business where staff numbers have doubled in the last 18 months, these were important team exercises to ensure we continue to be successful at over-delivering on our results, without losing the positive culture we have created. Sian exceeded our expectations and the team is keen to continue to build on the milestones we generated as a result of the sessions.

I have worked with Jo the last 6-7 years when she has been coaching me and running several leadership training sessions I have attended. Jo is the perfect coach, super insightful and stubbornly pursuing the development of the person she is coaching. She never lets you off the hook until you have realized your true potential. Jo has been the mastermind and energy-driver of the global training program in Hasbro.

It's rare that you get to work with great talent like Sian twice - first as colleagues and then as her client. I had the pleasure of working with Sian as colleagues at Hasbro where she was responsible for the Human Resources function. Some time after leaving Hasbro, Sian pursued her passion for learning and development and today using her mastery and deftness she centres her energy and time on coaching and development. More recently I've enjoyed being a client of Sian where she has worked with my team focusing on their development and fulfilment. Team feedback after these sessions has been terrific with everyone taking something away they learnt or new techniques they can use. I've always greatly admired Sian's ability to leave the other person in a more self aware state. No matter how challenging the situation, you can count on Sian to ask the tough questions balanced out with respect and lightness. Working with Sian is greatly rewarding in either a 1:1 session or a team session - you'll wonder why you didn't do this sooner.

Jo was the most fantastic coach to me as I stepped into a new leadership role and took my team through change. I can honestly say she changed my life! Her honest, simple, no nonsense approach hugely increased my confidence almost instantaneously. I came away with so much more belief in my own ideas and thinking, and with a clearer sense of the kind of leader I aspire to be. I continue to miss our coaching sessions and her ability to never let me off the hook, but do it with such kindness and humour! She’s a fantastic, hugely intuitive coach and also challenging in all the right ways.

Siân worked with me on a front line leadership development program at Kimberly Clark’s Ingleburn mill. The program focused on people’s ability to positively influence others as well as a number of coaching for performance tools. The program ran for just over a year with step change results in employee engagement and operational KPI’s. Siân has an excellent grasp on leadership development tools and is very passionate on the topic. I would highly recommend her to others looking for help developing their people.

Having had the pleasure of participating in several leadership and coaching courses led by Siân, I have really valued and benefited personally from her expertise, down to earth manner and her general concern for people. Siân consistently makes a positive impact on those around her, yet her real strength is helping and coaching others make their own positive impact.
